Redefining Rural & Remote Short Film Festival!
Join SPARC for a showcase of short films depicting all aspects of life in rural and remote communities!!!
This is a one-time event and a special presentation during the biennial Provincial Symposium of Réseau SPARC Network (Supporting Performing Arts in Rural & Remote Communities) which takes place May 23-26/24 in the Town of Minto.
Official selections will be screened in a showcase at the heritage Norgan Theatre, 275 Main St W, on May 26, 2024 at 10:30 am.
There will be four (4) prizes awarded as described below. Awards will be presented after the showcase.
Accepted file formats will be mov, avi, mpeg, mp4.
Rules & Terms
Open to Canadian filmmakers who create short films with the theme of life in rural and remote communities in Canada.
Proper crediting with all permissions secured for people's likenesses, copyright, SOCAN, etc. is required.
All filmmakers submitting a short film for consideration must guarantee that they own all rights associated with their entry including the rights/permissions of use of accompanying music.
Please provide SPARC with all necessary releases.

Film lengths of three (3) minutes up to twelve (12) minutes will be considered.
Selected films will be showcased online after the Festival.
Films may be submitted by uploading your film, in one of the approved formats, to a shared google folder. Please create a subfolder and name it with the title of your film.
Do not touch any other folders, or view any of the other submitted films.

Films which are been created by Canadians, or in Canada, from January 1, 2018, or later, are eligible.
By entering the competition, rights are given to SPARC to use the works for public presentation, but all rights of creation remain with the filmmaker.
Electronic Press Kits (EPK) including bios, film stills, and digital posters would be an asset and may be required. These can be uploaded into the same google sub-folder as your film.
Awards & Prizes
There will be prizes for:
Best overall short;
The film which is most representative of rural & remote life;
Best feature by a filmmaker aged 25 or younger;
Peoples Choice award.
