Update to Ontario Presents’s New Young Audience Presenter Project
Ontario Presents is excited to announce that the New Young Audience Presenter Project has received funding by the Department of Canadian Heritage for another year. The project was born out of a need to help revitalize the young audience presenting ecology that has been plagued by over-capacity, volunteer-burnout and fatigue in recent years. Its mandate is to support, uplift and nurture new or emerging young audience presenters in Ontario communities. Since its inception, the project has built relationships with up to 8 YA presenters and we are thrilled to highlight that 2 of the project participants have already begun presenting for youngsters in their communities.
Bolstered by the success of the project’s inaugural year, the OP team would like to extend an open invitation to more individuals, community groups, and cultural organizations in rural, remote and underserved communities interested in connecting their local children and youth with the performing arts to join Year 2 of the New Young Audience Presenter Project.
Participants will benefit from personalized one-on-one consultations from industry specialists, training sessions, and resources that will help them grow and nurture a young audience presenting series at no charge. This project is unique because it is crafted to meet the unique needs of the individual presenter participant wherever they may be in their presenting journey and personal capacity.
Ontario Presents is a province-wide network of performing arts touring and presenting organizations that work collaboratively to facilitate an equitable distribution of live, diverse performing arts shows – and their engagement with all citizens – into communities across Ontario.
